Foreign Ministry's State Secretary Várkonyi Visits Washington

Mr. László Várkonyi, State Secretary in charge of Hungary's bilateral relations outside Europe and of international development at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Washington on September 10-11 for annual consultations with his partners at the State Department and the National Security Council. His discussions covered such wide ranging issues as the Middle East, China, Afghanistan, Cuba, democracy promotion and bilateral relations. State Secretary Várkonyi also conferred with foreign policy advisors for both presidential candidates, Senators McCain and Obama.
